Repurpose a Thrift Store Frame
How to Use an Empty Frame
Happy Friday friends! I hope you've had a great week.
I found this great looking frame at the thrift store recently. It was marked down to $1.99, probably because there was no glass, picture or backing. Just an empty frame.
I love finding frames like this, especially if the frame has a lot of texture like this one does.
But what do you do with empty frames? Here's what it looked like before I upcycled it..
I painted, distressed and waxed it and hung it on the wall with my DIY flower pot wreath in the center. Other ideas would be to frame a monogram, or a smaller picture inside the empty frame. Or hang a mini banner from corner to corner.
So easy, but such a big impact!
The lesson here? Next time you're out thrifting, don't overlook those empty frames! They wanna be beautiful, too!
bringing beauty to the ordinary,
p.s. in case you've been following along and read about my oldest son starting University this week...we got him successfully moved into his dorm room yesterday; he texted me last night that he met and hung out with a bunch of people! God's got him...I know he'll be fine!

Very cute! I just brought home materials to make a wreath - now it just has to hang inside a frame! I love redoing old outdated decor - makes me feel thrifty. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Val, I feel the same way. If I bought new stuff for each season, I'd soon go broke! Thrifty items are my friends :)
DeleteWhat a beautiful wreath...and I love that you inserted it into a frame. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Christine! It's funny but it seems like several DIY bloggers had the same idea at the same time about using empty frames!! There is a tutorial for my flower pot wreath if you're interested in making one...I used mostly items from the dollar store!
