DIY Sweater Pumpkins
DIY sweater pumpkins that are crafted to be big and soft and extra fluffy. Follow my tutorial to make a pumpkin patch full of sweater pumpkins!
Have you made sweater pumpkins yet? They're one of my favorite items to bring down from the attic every fall. They're soft, squishy and just plain adorable! And believe it or not, they're not that difficult to make!
If you're wanting to add an inexpensive dose of texture to your fall decor, this is a great project!
Start with a cozy sweater that no longer fits (or find some at the thrift store). The best kind to use are thick ones with ribs or cable knit or those that are extra fluffy.

The cutest DIY sweater pumpkins
Cut your sweater up and make a pumpkin using this
tutorial. Go ahead and finish reading this post to see the cute pictures, then head to the tutorial. It's been two years since I first posted my sweater pumpkin tutorial and I'm
happy to say that my photography has come a long way since then!
Can you see the difference? I confess I cringe a little every time I look at the
original pictures. Today's post is to give you some pretty, new pictures...the
process is still the same.
Once your sweater pumpkin body is done, get creative and top it with a long jute-wrapped stem. A little bit funky...a whole lotta awesome!
Or maybe a twig is more your style; they're easy to find this time of year! A little strip of burlap ribbon adds some extra texture.
You can twist some wired jute around a tube to create curlicues.
Cut some leaves from felt or even flannel to add extra coziness to your DIY sweater pumpkin! I love this plaid flannel or even this one with it's beautiful fall colors.
There's really no wrong way to decorate your DIY sweater pumpkin! Use items that you love. Your sweater pumpkins are sure to be unique and you'll look forward to pulling them out and displaying them every year!
I like my neutral ones, but feel free to decorate with your favorite color!
