Hi friends, welcome back! It's time for another Thrifty Style Team round-up of thrifty projects that you can copy for your own home! You'll find all the links to this month's projects further down this page.
I'm sharing maybe the easiest DIY ever! In fact, it hardly qualifies as a DIY but I'm calling it that anyway 😉
When I purchased these cute bistro chairs for the breakfast nook in my farmhouse kitchen, I knew I wanted to soften the seating a little bit.
I'm much more apt to linger over a second cup of coffee if I'm in a comfy seat...aren't you?

I was searching online for easy round seat cushion tutorials, and had gone so far as to purchase chair foam. But I hadn't done anything yet because it was looking to be a lot of difficult sewing.
I'm totally not into difficult sewing!
I'm totally not into difficult sewing!
Then I happened upon these round chunky crocheted place mats at HomeGoods one day. I measured them and realized they would be a perfect fit for my chairs! At only $6.98 each, they were a cheaper option than sewing my own chair pads...easy, no-sew, it was a no-brainer!
Turning these place mats into chair pads could not have been simpler!
I tore four strips of drop cloth (2 for each chair), each the same width and length.
After placing the mats on the chairs, I simply poked the drop cloth through the holes nearest the chair back and tied them around the chair backs!
The drop cloth is nearly the exact same shade as the place mats, which makes for a nice, uniform look.
While the black chairs were cute without the chair pads, I think the creamy seat covers add a perfect finishing touch of farmhouse charm, and the torn drop cloth and the texture of the mats adds a lot of interest to this little breakfast nook!
What do you think? Better...no?
The chairs are much more comfy, and the chair pad doesn't slide around because the drop cloth ties keep them in place! This farmhouse-style breakfast nook feels complete!
The seat cushions are a piece of cake to remove when I need to wash them or just don't want them on. Plus it will be very easy to substitute wide ribbon in a fun pattern when I'm ready for a change!
