I didn't set out to make a snow boy and a snow girl...

I just wanted to make a cute burlap door hanging that was different from all the others I'd seen.
I got a picture in my mind of a snowman, and thought it would be really cute if I used soft, Warm & Natural quilt batting for the body. It's already white, woolly and the perfect texture.
One thing led to another...I started pulling out fabrics and buttons, felt and lace....
I sewed the Warm and Natural onto a piece of burlap...and then started adding elements to give it character.
I remembered my stash of vintage chenille that I purchased from E-bay a few years ago and thought how wonderful it would be to use it on this project. It would make the perfect scarf. I only had 'feminine' colors, so this snowman became a 'she'! You can also purchase new chenille here.
Her hat got trimmed in mini pom pom trim and vintage lace and has a felt flower with burlap rose.
I gave her a pink chenille heart with buttons. I used buttons for her eyes, layering them on top of felt circles.
I wasn't quite as fussy with the boy. A hat, scarf, buttons, and trim on his hat is as far as it went. Although he did get a little heart as well...after all, cold hands, warm heart, right??
I threaded some stiff black craft wire through each of their heads to create the hanger. Ouch, sounds painful right? I assure you that no snowmen were injured in the creation of this project!
The back of both snow people is solid burlap.
I think they'll have a great time hanging out this winter :)
