We are into the second week of September, and fall is in full-swing...indoors at least! I am delighted to be participating in the Fall Ideas Tour with 25 of my favorite home decor bloggers! We are sharing ideas to inspire you all week long! (that's why bloggers always have to be ahead of the game...so you have time to pull off our ideas!) Each day this week has a different theme. I'll post all the links at the end of this post so you don't miss a thing!
Today is all about Fall Tablescapes. Are you ever stumped about how to decorate your table for Fall? Tables can be tricky because you don't want a centerpiece too tall that makes it hard to see who's sitting on the other side...but you want something that makes a statement.
My goal for my Fall table this year was to keep it simple and budget-friendly and I'm happy to say that I accomplished both! Let me show you more!
I was able to reuse a lot of items I already had, and I think I spent less than $20 on this tablescape! It's not quite as elaborate as last year's Fall table, but I like it just as well...and it took much less time to pull together!
Let's look at the details.
The stars of my dining table are definitely these dollar store antiqued pumpkins! I love how they turned out, and they were surprisingly simple to make...they cost me a whopping $1 each! I know!
I reused my wooden trug from Hobby Lobby. If you own a dough bowl, that would work too. What I love about this wooden vessel is that it's long but narrow so it doesn't encroach on valuable eating space!
Something else I reused are the magnolia leaves from my fresh magnolia wreath that I made last year. I love how the leaves dried to a velvety brown...it's just the perfect shade for Fall decorating! I had no intentions of taking my wreath apart until it fell off its hook and smashed on the floor. I was taking it apart (to save the wreath form) when I realized that several of the leaves were still intact...they became filler for the centerpiece on my dining table!
I also reused a few of the dollar store succulents that I bought last year for my Spring centerpiece...just a couple on the ends in the wood trug. I love the texture and color they add to my Fall table.
Those sugared mini pumpkins and acorns are probably 10 years old! I think I bought them from Pottery Barn, but I'm not sure. They don't smell anymore but I've kept them because they're just so cute and add a nice little pop of color!
I tucked in a few sprigs of velvety soft lambs ears! I love their muted color and they seem to go with everything! In fact, I purchased a lambs ears garland to drape over my huge chalkboard. Lambs ears seem to be becoming increasingly popular in the home decor world. My mom always had it growing in her flowers beds, and I like to have items in my home that remind me of her!
The galvanized chargers were a bit of a splurge (for me!) at $3.50 each, but they are perfect for layering and I'll be able to use them for any season! I used my buffalo check plates and topped them with some of my collected ironstone dishes. I love this layered look. It's easy to do and makes the table more interesting.
I reused my set of small burlap pumpkins that I bought at Marshalls last year, and I topped each ironstone dish with one...purely for decoration! Obviously this table is not set for a meal, it's just to give you an idea of how to style your table for Fall! I hope you were inspired!
