It did involve a sewing machine and some basic sewing skills, and I know not all of you can appreciate that! 😏 Believe me, I get it! So today I'm sharing how to create a very similar pillow, but it's absolutely no sew!
In fact, this version of the Valentine's XO pillow is so easy to make you might be shocked!
Supplies:
- oblong or square pillow cover
- 2 sheets of craft felt (color of choice)
- fabric glue
- sharp scissors
- XO template *see below
How to Make an XO Pillow, the No-Sew Way
In full disclosure, I made my own pillow cover using 18" square napkins I
found, but I'm not including that tutorial here. If you're interested, it's
very similar to
this tutorial where I made a pillow using place mats.
However, this tutorial is assuming that you already have a plain pillow or
pillow cover to use.
Step 1: Trace template and cut out felt
Easy peasy right? Just pin the template onto each piece of felt and cut out! It did take me a little trial and error to get the size just right for the paper template! My printables, including the XO template, are available for free to subscribers, just look for the link in every email! Not a subscriber? Sign up HERE.I used the same template for both the oblong drop cloth pillow and this one, so you can use either pillow cover!
Step 2: Glue felt to pillow cover
There's no need to pin the felt to the pillow cover. Lift up one half of the felt and apply a line of glue along the edges, then do the same with the other half!
The color of felt you choose and your pillow cover can lend itself to so many different styles and looks! I'd love to see what you do with this tutorial!
I would love the template.
