Welcome back friends! Isn't it funny how as kids we resisted going to bed, but as adults it's pretty much our favorite time of the day? I'm sharing my cozy Christmas bedroom today for the Very Merry Christmas Home Tour hosted by Carrie of Lovely, Etc. If you're visiting from Sweet Pea for the first time, welcome!

I knew when  we gave our messy and cluttered master bedroom a makeover this past year that I wanted to add a magical Christmas feel to our bedroom! In fact, it's the first room I decorated for Christmas this year!

I've never put a Christmas tree in our bedroom before! The kids had their own trees in their rooms when they were younger, but for some reason I'd never thought of decorating our master bedroom for Christmas.

Adding Cozy Christmas to the Bedroom

I think the idea first entered my mind to decorate our master bedroom for Christmas when I was shopping for new bedding for our room makeover, back in May.  I fell in love with this ruffled bedspread set, but couldn't decide on the gray or the white... so I bought both because the price was so good! I love how the ruffles fall all the way to the floor,  and add a grown up, romantic look to our bed.

I've been using the gray set and saving the white one for Christmas, I love red and white for Christmas because it's so classy...but as you can see, it can also feel cozy and romantic!

Mr DIY is not a big fan of tons of pillows (are any husbands really??), but I can never resist a few. I made this large bolster pillow using just an old pillow and a beach towel ( find the DIY bolster tutorial here), and every season I have just changed out the cover. I used blue velvet for our room makeover, a plaid scarf for fall, and now for Christmas I wrapped it in a red and white throw. I love a good budget DIY like this one that allows you to get a completely fresh look with very little effort!

The red and white striped ticking pillows are ones I made from leftover fabric after I made my new $10 Christmas wreath. The pillow in the middle was bought at Target a couple years ago. Even though none of them is specifically Christmas, they're the right color and work together.

I didn't think we had room in our bedroom for a Christmas tree, but I made it work. I swapped out my nightstand for a smaller round table, and tucked a skinny flocked pencil tree in the corner. This tree was in my dining room last year, decorated in blue and white, with vintage transferware plates, mugs and ironstone pitchers hanging on it as well as DIY farmhouse ornaments that I created with a Sharpie! You can see my French farmhouse blue and white tree here.

This year I kept the tree decor simple, just adding lights and a few mercury glass ornaments and sparkly snowflake picks. I brought it my small thrifted flocked tree (that had a broken stand) and another little tabletop tree for a flocked trio that makes this corner feel so magical!

It's so pretty at night with the lights twinkling, but it's equally pretty during the day. It feels like Christmas every time I walk in our bedroom, and I just want to snuggle up with a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy it!

Our gorgeous dark headboard that I picked up from a barn sale when we lived in Florida, was begging for a garland. I bought this pre-lit garland from Walmart. Originally I was going to use fresh greens, but I was worried about it drying out and needles falling on our head while we slept...that wouldn't be cozy OR romantic, lol!

I was able to tuck the garland between the headboard and wall, and didn't need to use any clips to hold it, but if your headboard is flat on top, or your garland just won't stay put, I'd recommend these clips.

The mirror on the wall reflects all the twinkly lights and makes our bedroom feel like a winter wonderland.

Now that I've decorated our bedroom for Christmas, I don't think I'll be able to go back to an undecorated Christmas bedroom!!
