Do you enjoy making homemade ornaments?
There is
something so satisfying about spending an afternoon crafting...and then
filling up your tree (or your home) with your handmade Christmas creations!
I'm
swamped right now with Christmas decorating and photography (plus editing and
writing blog posts)...keeping the fam fed with clean clothes...but I still
found time to make these ridiculously easy and cute air dry clay and wood bead
ornaments!
Crafting is therapy.
This isn't an air dry
clay tutorial. Because you don't really need one! I love to use this clay.
You
just squeeze a ball of clay in your hand to warm it up a bit and then roll and
cut it out just like cookies.
I used all my Christmas cookie
cutters to make several trays of ornaments. The clay shapes dry in about 36
hours and are ready to craft into cute ornaments.
I am loving
natural wood beads this year! I used them when I made my pizza pan wreath and
also for my buffalo check Christmas canvas sign. I've made DIY napkin rings from wood beads and have so many more ideas!
These ornaments come
together so quickly.
Supplies:
- small 1-2" cookie cutters
- rolling pin
- DAS air dry clay
- wood dowel or toothpick to make holes
- number and letter stamps (optional)
- something to add texture (I used a hobnail glass to add polka dots)
- wood beads in a variety of sizes (I used these beads and these beads)
- jute cord
- scissors
Making these ornaments is as simple as stringing beads onto the jute and tying
a clay ornament at the end!
I like the small star and snowflake clay ornaments for my tree this year.
They've got a natural vibe that is just so simple and beautiful!
In this season of crazy and overwhelm...
...sometimes you just
need something simple.
These bead and clay ornaments are very light which makes them perfect to
hang on your Christmas tree right at the end. You know that place on your
tree that needs just a little something extra?
This is it! The
perfect ornament!
Easy, beautiful! I hope you try some!
