Let me ask you a question
Do you add Christmas decor to your bedroom?
I'm betting that most of you will say no. It's not really something we
think about.
Decorating my bedroom for Christmas wasn't on my radar
either.
Until last year!
Last year was the first time in
28 years of marriage that I decorated our master bedroom for Christmas! You
can see our
romantic and cozy Christmas bedroom here. I don't know why I waited so long to bring some holiday magic to our
bedroom!
When our kids were little, they always always had a small
tree in their bedrooms, filled with their own personal ornaments. One of
our family traditions is to gift the kids a new ornament each year so when
they leave home, they'll have enough ornaments to decorate their own tree.
Of course, our boys could care less at this point (they're 23 and 24)
but someday I know they'll be thankful to have a bin full of ornaments!
Our
daughter put up a tree in her bedroom this year filled with all her "old"
ornaments (she's 16) plus some new ones we purchased at Hobby Lobby.
When
I added our
King of Christmas flocked pencil tree
to our bedroom last year, along with twinkle lights and simple Christmas
decor, we absolutely loved it! Our bedroom became a romantic and cozy retreat
with those simple additions!
How to decorate your bedroom for Christmas
This year I kept it even simpler. I didn't add a large Christmas tree.
Instead, I brought in a couple of tabletop trees that I plopped into
wicker baskets. I flocked these trees myself last year (you can watch me do it in
my Instagram highlights), and was happy to see that the flocking was still on when I unpacked them
this year!
Our Texas attic gets mighty hot and humid and I just
wasn't sure how the DIY flocked trees would hold up!
The snowy trees add that wintry Christmas feel (which we have to manufacture!)
in our bedroom. To me, it adds to that feeling of escaping to a retreat in the
mountains of Colorado!
We didn't get to do that this year thanks
to COVID, so I'm creating that feeling at home in our bedroom.
Last year during Christmas clearance sales, I snagged several small greenery
wreaths. I actually use them in my home year round (they're the perfect size
to use with a candle). For Christmas this year I hung them above our
headboard from
red striped ribbon.
Our
faux brick wall
is one of my favorite things about our bedroom makeover! We updated our
master two years ago, adding lots of European farmhouse elements like the
brick wall, a double set of
DIY barn doors,
painted weathered dressers
that were formerly orangey oak, and more.
You can view our master bedroom makeover here.
The brick wall is rustic so I can nail into it and not worry
about holes.
During the previous months I had fun adding lots of
copper and blue cozy fall touches to our bedroom. One of the additions I made at that time was adding the farmhouse garland
over our headboard, along with
copper fairy lights.
I simply left the lighted garland in place as it adds that
perfect twinkle for Christmas. The lights are on a timer, so they come on
and go off at the same time every day!
A red plaid wood throw added to the snowy linens looks Merry, as do the striped stockings I hung from the bed posts. I love our romantic ruffled duvet set, and it's such a great price that I bought two sets...one in white and one set in gray!
One of my DIYs this year was making temporary
Naughty and Nice Christmas pillow wraps. You can read how I made the pillow wraps, as well as find out who the
naughty one in our family is (along with a few stories to prove this
fact!) 😉😃
I hope you've enjoyed these simple Christmas ideas
for the bedroom! And if you have never decorated your bedroom for
Christmas, try adding one or two of these ideas for some merry magic this
holiday season! I promise you'll love it!

ReplyDeleteThanks so much Paula! I'm so happy to inspire you a little this Christmas!!
DeleteCindy I just love your bedroom. The headboard is stunning and that brick wall is just amazing. I think my favorite thing about your Christmas decor are the little wreaths above your bed. I am going to have to remember that when I go shopping at the end of the season. I dream of decorating my bedroom every year but I usually run out of steam. You have inspired me!
ReplyDeleteAww, what a huge compliment Wendy! Thank you! I understand about running out of steam... that's probably why I've started to decorate so early! Then I can enjoy shopping, wrapping and baking!
