It's always a little bittersweet to pack up Christmas.
Gone
are the bright colors...the twinkle lights...the magic.
The house
feels a little empty and stark. Usually I'm fine with that. I pull out all my
coziest throws, pillows and decor.
But this year I found myself
craving a little color. Not too much, just a touch of cozy color! I wanted to
extend that magical feeling of Christmas a little bit longer!
I
normally turn to my long-time-love-affair with the color blue, and I'm sure
that blue will make an appearance in my home this winter in at least a few
rooms. You can see some of my past
winter decorating ideas here
and
here.
This year, I found myself decorating with blush pink, gold and
white. I love how fresh and bright and cozy it feels! Like a little pre-taste
of spring!
Blush pink winter decor
I left out a box of
pink mercury glass Christmas ornaments. They are so beautiful that I wanted to enjoy them a little longer!
I
piled them into a painted wood bowl and added a
string of pearls
and
fairy lights to keep that glow going during cold winter nights!
Believe
it or not, we have gone from 70's down to the 40's in the last few days! Some
areas of Texas were even supposed to get some snow this week! I've had to wear
a winter jacket and beanie when I take Millie for walks!
My
brass candlesticks
add a little golden glow, as do the lighted votives. Do you find yourself
burning more candles during the winter?
Anything to add that
glow! We've enjoyed having a fire in the fireplace nearly every night!
I'll be sharing the tutorial for these adorable clay hearts soon, as well as ways I'm using the hearts in my home decor for winter through Valentines Day.
My DIY fake cakes made an appearance, and I'll be sharing tips for decorating
with fake cakes later this week. You can
find the fake cake tutorial here.
There is something so romantic about blush pink and gold, white
milk glass, ironstone and ruffles that just makes me smile.
This
table wasn't set for dinner...it was just set to be something pretty to enjoy
every time I walk past!
I had no intention of carrying the blush pink theme into my living room and
sunroom, it just happened that way.
Here's a sneak peek...be
watching for more details soon!
I hope you're staying warm!
