Hello friend and welcome. Are you starting to feel some Fall vibes yet?
It's that time of the month when my friends and I gather for another
Pinterest Challenge, hosted by Cindy of
County Road 407.
Cindy's son was just in a serious motorcycle accident so please keep them in
your prayers! This month is a Fall bedroom challenge!
If you don't decorate your bedroom for Fall, why not start by adding just a
few things that inspire you from this month's challenge. All the links are
below and I know you'll find an idea or two to copy!
Inspiration
Let's take a look at our inspiration image for this month and I'll tell you
what I'm replicating in my own bedroom. That's the beauty of this
challenge...no two are alike! We each are inspired by different items and put
our own twist to it.
The inspiration comes from Courtney of
Golden Boys and Me and I love all her Fall pretties! Keep reading and I'll show you what
elements I borrowed from her bedroom.
Fall bedroom refresh
While I love Courtney's chandelier and the shelf above her bed (so perfect for
displaying favorite decor items), neither of those were elements I could copy.
We cannot sleep without our ceiling fan (Texas humidity - enough said!), and
our headboard is too tall for a shelf. I was still inspired by the following
elements:
- soft colors/patterns mixed with bolder colored pillows
- bench at end of bed
- pumpkins and Fall leaves
- books used to elevate decor
- something Fall-related above the headboard
Here's how I incorporated these items into my Fall bedroom refresh.

Soft colors mixed with bold
I have been using the same
white ruffled coverlet
for a few years now. I have a matching one in gray, but there's just something
about the white that I love...it works for every season and it's so
affordable! To add some pattern and color to the bed for Fall, I added
this lightweight cotton coverlet
by Laura Ashley. I found it on Amazon and it was so inexpensive I just had to
have it 😍
Blue and white is my favorite color combo, and I love using blue for Fall. You
can see my
blue and white Fall sitting room decor here. I styled my antique pine hutch with blue and white vintage dishes,
white ironstone and these
DIY dollar store blue floral porcelain pumpkins
that I recently made.
The soft color and pattern of this blue coverlet works so well for our Fall
bedroom refresh. It's something I'll be able to use all year and satisfies my
love of blue and white!
I hung the matching shams from my little white ladder that I use for throw
blankets.
The pillows on my bed are bolder colors that really pop. I made the blue ones
from velvet fabric I purchased when I made my
DIY bolster.
Just a word on my bolster pillow - if you've priced larger ones, they are
so expensive! I figured out a way to make a dupe pillow using items from my
linen closet! I guarantee you have these same items and won't miss them if
you choose to make your own no-sew DIY bolster pillow!
The
buttery yellow velvet pillows
are a recent FB Marketplace purchase and I adore the ruffles! I borrowed them
from my
Fall dining room that's decorated with warm golds. I actually just found these pillows on Amazon for quite a bit less than I
paid! You can click the link above to see all the colors available.
The faux grain sack pillow cover that I used on my DIY bolster pillow is a DIY
that I'll be sharing soon!
Bench at end of bed
I have a woven wood bench that sits at the end of our bed. It doesn't have a
shelf like the inspiration image, but I love to drape a cozy throw on top. I
added a white wicker basket filled with DIY ticking stripe pumpkins to the
bench. At the foot of the bench, I added a large basket with a plaid fall
throw, golden yellow leaves and my
drop cloth Fall sign
that I made last year. I love how the yellow leaves match the yellow pillow on
the bed!
Something Fall related above headboard
Our tall headboard is majestic and the dark wood looks so good against our
faux brick wall. I don't like to compete with it too much, plus I don't have much space up
there, but I did hang a copper paper bag wreath that I made just for this
post! Watch for that tutorial soon - it doesn't get more budget-friendly than
a $0 fall wreath!
Pumpkins and fall leaves
I already shared my fall leaves and some of my pumpkins. I also added a more
rustic pumpkin to each nightstand. My DIY pinecone pumpkin is yet another fall
craft I made this year and I'll share the tutorial soon!
Hurricane Nicholas recently swept through town and left us with a yard full of
branches and debris. When life gives you branches, make candleholders! This
pretty bark from our crepe myrtle tree made some rustic candleholders. We
simply drilled a hole in the middle to fit a taper candle. The chippy white
candleholder beside it was cut from a chair spindle. I found a super easy
method to create that vintage chippy look with paint - you can read it
here.
I added this amazing vintage oil painting to my nightstand. The painting hung
in my home when I was growing up. It was in the hallway that led to our
bedrooms and I always loved it. I was lucky to inherit it when my parents
passed away, and I am loving the warmth it adds to our bedroom and the
abundance of leaves in various colors are so perfect for this time of year!
Mr DIY brought me home a bunch of hydrangeas when he was at Costco the other
day, and I just had to include them in these pictures! I am a sucker for
hydrangeas - forget roses - I must have hydrangeas always 😊
Books used to elevate decor
Over on Mr DIY's nightstand, I added a stack of hardcover books with
fall-colored spines and topped it with a rustic pumpkin. It's such a simple
touch that adds just a hint of fall.
I hope you're inspired to add a little Fall decor to your own bedroom! Please
let me know in the comments below! 🍂🍂🍂
