If you've spent any time on DIY Beautify, you know I love blue and white. It's
a color combination that just always brings a smile to my face. Whether it's
vintage blue and white dishes in my hutch or a soft and romantic bedroom, it's
a classic color combo that I'll always gravitate towards.
I'm no stranger to decorating our main room for Christmas and even adding a
tree. I'll link to more of my Christmas bedrooms below. I think this year's
bedroom may be my favorite to date!
Inspiration
I started with these fun linen
toile curtains in blue and white. Toile usually depicts country scenes, so the jungle print on these make
them a little quirky! While not a perfect match, they pair well with the blue
and white floral quilt on the bed. This Laura Ashley quilt set is such a
pretty color and great price, you can see it
HERE.
I wanted to decorate our room for Christmas and do it simply, easily and
inexpensively, so I decided to just go with a blue and white theme.
Decorating a Romantic Blue and White Christmas Bedroom
You might remember when I decorated the
French farmhouse blue and white Christmas tree
in our dining room a few years back. This tree, while similar, is decorated
much more simply.
The other tree was chock full of my vintage ironstone creamers and mugs,
chippy spindles, and lots of DIY ornaments.
The Tree
For this bedroom tree, I reused the
blue Sharpie ornaments, and I recycled some old ball ornaments with a
blue floral decoupage using napkins, but the rest of the tree has just some gauzy white ribbon draping over the
ends of branches, as well as some other ribbon tucked into the holes!
The Bed
Our bed has had the same bedding for a couple years now, I just really love the white ruffled bedspread that goes all the way to the floor! It's such a deal at under $50 for the King size spread and matching shams. It's also nice and lightweight, so perfect year round but I do need to add the quilt and even a blanket during the winter months.
On my nightstand is a DIY nightlight I made using a mason jar, fairy lights
and some blue gingham fabric. I love the soft glow.
Our headboard is draped with a
mixed greenery garland with pinecones. I opted not to add lights to it, and to let the tree steal the show!
I found the white sweater tree pillow at Ross this year, and love how it
matches the white sweater stockings I hung on the arched chalkboards. I made
the stockings a few years ago from a thrifted sweater. I hung them with some
blue velvet ribbon.
The little
white tree
in the basket got some ribbon adornments.
Blue Gingham Stockings
Mr DIY helped me to make some chippy white wood stockings this year. I hung
several from our mantel (see that
HERE), and added one to the green painted dresser in the
red and white cottage guestroom. I decoupaged two more with blue gingham fabric and the same blue floral
napkins that I used on the tree ornaments. If you'd like to see that tutorial,
you can watch the
VIDEO HERE.
The bench at the end of the bed is holding the
faux grainsack bolster pillow cover
that I made from canvas drop cloth.
I love snuggling up in the evening with a cup of tea, a book and just enjoy
this magical Christmas bedroom!

DeleteI like the new curtains. You say blue and white - the listing says blue and beige in the heading - are yours actually blue and white?
ReplyDeleteThanks,
