Decorating for Spring with faux florals and flower pots, light and airy
bedding and decorative collectibles including many DIY projects for a bright
and happy feel.
Doesn't it feel like we were just decorating for Christmas? How is it nearly
Spring already? One thing is for sure, it's been a wild and strange winter
across the country! Whether you're still buried under a foot of snow, or
basking in 80 degree weather, it's time to turn our minds and our homes to
Spring!
Spring Home Tour
Today I'm happy to join
Marty of A Stroll Thru Life
and 30 other home decor bloggers to share our Spring Home Tour home decor
inspiration with you! If you hopped over here from
Jenn at Clean and Scentsible, a special welcome to you! Jenn lives in the beautiful province of British
Columbia in Canada, which is where I grew up and lived until I married my
American sweetheart, Mr DIY and we moved south!
How does the tour work?
The tour runs all week long, with new Spring inspiration each day. You'll have
access to all the links below, just be aware that they won't all be active
until Friday! But you're welcome and encouraged to check back each day.
I've been fluffing and decorating and bringing a fresh look of Spring to our
MS home. If you're new here, we moved to MS from TX last May, so this is my
first time decorating for Spring in this home. As I mentioned above, I was
born and raised in Canada, and have lived in 6 different states since marrying
Mr DIY! You can read more about our family and our journey
here.
I will say that moving into a new home in a new state, and having the last two
kids leave home (all within a couple months) means this momma has had some
nervous energy to burn! Decorating our temporary home has been a great way to
stay busy while furthering this little business.
Adding light and airy Spring touches
I try to buy very little new decor for each season, although I'll be honest
that a few pieces do make their way into our home (like these adorable bunny
mugs from Target that I could not resist!). However, keeping to a budget is
important to me, and I try to decorate on a shoestring with items that will
last for years and can work in nearly every room in whatever home we're living
in!
Spring in the main bedroom
I don't always decorate the bedrooms for Spring, but in this home I have about
1000 sf less to decorate, so it was inevitable 😉
You'll notice there is only one bunny in here, and I'll be sharing a tutorial
for this easy and inexpensive double-sided bunny pillow in a few days.
Instead, I chose to interpret Spring in our main bedroom by using light and airy
bedding, a pretty floral quilt, vintage ironstone plates on the wall, and vases
filled with the most realistic looking tulips.
I've already invested in pretty bedding and curtains, and I just change the
way I make the bed to get different looks for the season. This
soft ruffled bedspread is gorgeous, a nice light weight that makes such a great base for every
season! At Christmas this bedroom became a
romantic blue and white haven, with a decorated tree. I'm a huge fan of blue and white, all shades, but
for the bedroom I am really drawn to a light blue (and toile patterns are my
favorite!). My King size quilt and shams by Laura Ashley is still less than
$100 for the set on Amazon!
The
faux French grainsack bolster pillow
is one I made for just a couple bucks from some common household items that
you would probably donate! You need to check out the tutorial!

Simply changing a few things in our bedroom has motivated me to get back to
making our bed daily! When I walk into this space, I smile and breathe a big
sigh because it's so calming!
Spring in the guest bedroom
When our daughter is visiting from University, this is her room, but the rest
of the year it's mine to play with! I recently shared the tutorial for the
cottage style wood shelf
Mr DIY and I built for this space. It's more decorating real estate!
I was pleasantly surprised to find pretty Easter bonnets at Dollar Tree and
this one, with the pink and blue ribbon tied around it, inspired the colors in
this room. I added a large stained floral platter that I saved from the thrift
store, as well as more white ironstone from my collection.
Above the bed is this large cottage sign that I made. Be on the lookout for
that tutorial (plus a free printable) soon!
More light and airy bedding makes this tiny room feel bigger but somehow extra
cozy at the same time!
I painted my daughter's dresser (with her blessing!) this beautiful cottage
green, and simply propped some old shutters on top, along with a mirror. You
can read all about this
dresser makeover HERE.
My DIY Anthropologie Minka vase dupe is filled with blush pink peonies for a
simple yet stunning touch of Spring. You can see my original
Anthro textured pot dupe tutorial
here, this one is round two, which you can find here! I found a way to
make it look even more like the real thing for so much less!
This is where I come to sleep when Mr DIY's snoring keeps me awake 😉

I would love to hear if I've inspired you to decorate your bedrooms for
Spring! Let's continue on with the tour, please visit
Christy at Our Southern Home. I know you'll love her elegant kitchen decorated for Spring!
Your spring decor in your bedrooms is gorgeous! That green dresser is incredible, layered with that vase with the pink peonies is just so pretty - the color palette is truly beautiful. So many beautifully layered vignettes for the season, happy spring!
The blue and white in your bedroom is so wonderfully light and bright Cindy - and the bedding is so soft and beautiful! And the colors in the other bedroom are ideal for spring decorating. I'll be on the lookout for the DIY for that adorable bunny pillow!
Moving and decorating a new home is alwlays fun and you have done an outstanding job on both bedrooms. I love both and I agree with others, the blue and white is stunning and that green dresser is a keeper. Thanks for joining the tour again this season.
Cindy, I love your bedrooms! Now I want to freshen mine up! All your bedding looks so fluffy - and yes, light and airy! You must feel like you're sleeping on a cloud! Beautiful tour! Shelley
I'm so glad you shared bedrooms in your spring tour, because I'm really needing some spring inspiration there! By the way your Anthropologie look-a-like vase is super cute!
I love your idea of getting things that will work in any room in your home. Mixing things around keeps it fun and new looking. Your bedrooms are amazing and I could crawl right up in any of those beds and not want to leave. I think my favorite part is that no matter what room you're in, they each seem special, inviting and full of spring details. Love all that you do. Happy Spring!
