Easter Table Decorating Two Ways

Two ways to decorate an Easter table, a casual and simple way for those who don't have time, and a more decorated table adding to the previous ideas with fresh flowers, bunnies and eggs.

Ideas for decorating an Easter table

Casual Deconstructed Table
Let's start with a very casual Easter table. I'm also calling this a "deconstructed table", and you'll see why below!

This style of simple and casual Easter table works when you just don't have the time to do more decorating! But it's equally workable for a casual meal when you have a big crowd. While the table is deconstructed, the color palette and addition of some neutral Easter decor fools the eye and makes it look decorated!

Tips to get this look:

  1. Start with a table runner or tablecloth
  2. Stack your chargers and dinner plates
  3. Top the plate stack with napkins and silverware
  4. Add simple decorations like a vase of tulips, decorated eggs piled in a pretty bowl, a bundle of DIY drop cloth carrots
  5. Set out charcuterie and/or starters like my classic Caesar salad dressing
This green and white look feels fresh and Spring-like!

This style of casual table works well when you have a big crowd and not everyone will fit around the dining table. Guests can help themselves to this buffet-style table, and either sit around the table or take their plates elsewhere you have set aside for eating.

Decorated Easter table
The second style of table is one that is more heavily decorated, for those of use who consider decorating an Olympic sport 😉 You'll notice I kept the same color scheme and the same basic pieces, but added to it.

The table is more traditional and works for both a more formal meal or if you're someone who enjoys decorating and going all out!

Tips to get this look

  1. Set each place setting with chargers, dinner plates, dessert plates and napkins
  2. Add candles
  3. Make an easy set of stamped bunny napkins
  4. Stack mugs or bowls in a long bread basket (these smaller dishes are perfect for starters and salads)
  5. Add a stamped ribbon declaring "He Is Risen"
  6. Make decoupaged eggs that match your napkins (see below for directions)
  7. Add grocery store tulips
  8. Add mini DIY terracotta seedling dishes

I left the original runner on the table, but crossed the table with a chiffon-like ruffled runner that I bunched up. This is actually a curtain I scored on big clearance. I used it for my 5 Ways to Style a Spring Vignette post. My table is dark, and the lighter colored runner covers up some of that wood and provides a grounding point for the decor.

SHOP THE LOOK

I scattered gold bunnies and candlesticks around the centerpiece.

The DIY stamped bunny napkins could be further personalized by stamping the names of your guests or family.

I used one of the green floral paper napkins (see similar) to make matching Easter eggs.

How to Decoupage Eggs:
  • separate napkin ply so you're left with one ply
  • tear napkin into pieces
  • brush Mod Podge over craft egg
  • gently pat napkin pieces to cover egg
  • top with a thin layer of Mod Podge
  • set aside to dry

I stamped He is Risen onto a length of ribbon and set it in the center of the table.

Grocery store fresh tulips were added to an antique ironstone pitcher. I love the casualness of tulips!

Designer Tip: Grab fresh flowers while you're picking up the rest of the groceries for your meal.

I hope these ideas are helpful as you plan how you will decorate your table for Easter this year! Whether you go all out, or have very little time, use these ideas as a jumping off point to inspire you! 🌷🕆🌱
