For all you who love a Dollar Tree Christmas craft, this one is not to miss!
This DIY gingerbread man craft is cheap, easy, uses minimal supplies, and
will make charming Christmas decor for your home!
I love these vintage inspired tiles, and when you layer paint and distress, you get a remarkably vintage-looking ornament! I'll be showing you in the video exactly how to make these, from start to finish ❤
I know you'll appreciate that the supplies list is short, and in just an hour
or so, you can craft several embossed gingerbread men. Mine are oversized, but
you can make smaller ones using cookie cutters or another template. I share
additional decorating ideas in the video, which I've included below.
How to make gingerbread men from Dollar Tree embossed tile
Supplies Needed:
- embossed tiles from Dollar Tree (they can be hard to find, so grab several!)
- gingerbread man wood cutout or oversized cookie cutter
- creamy white chalk paint
- gingerbread acrylic paint (I used this exact product)
- 1" foam brushes
- red check or ticking striped homespun
- scissors, Sharpie, baby wipes, something to protect your work surface
Steps to make tile gingerbread man
We're just painting the embossed tile with a couple different layers to really
emphasize that vintage vibe, lightly sanding to reveal the base color. So
easy, your kids would probably love to help with this Christmas craft!
I love using a
crafting heat gun
to help speed up the drying process
(please be careful, and supervise kids, because it can get very hot!)
Additional tips are included throughout the video.
These oversized gingerbread men are so cute hanging on a Christmas tree, but
you can hang them from garland across your mantle, or wherever else you need a
little dose of Christmas cheer!

ReplyDeleteThanks Gina!
DeleteOh my gosh, how stinkin' cute! I pinned this in my Christmas in July so I can get a head start next year! I'll make them smaller (cookie cutter size) for gift tags. They are PERFECT...."run run as fast as you can, you won't find anything cuter than me!"
ReplyDeleteThank you, oh great idea! I'm going to make some minis too!
DeleteCindy, these are just darling! What a great use of the tin tiles...I have a ton of them and I'll definitely be making your cute garland!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kim! I've had the tiles for awhile but nothing inspired me until the lightbulb went on, lol!
DeleteCindy, this is the CUTEST craft I have seen this year. I eye those tiles every time I see them in DT, but could never think of what to do with them. This is brilliant. By the way, your complexion is gorgeous and flawless. You are naturally beautiful. Thank you so much for all of your inspiration throughout the year, and I hope you and your family have a wonderful Holiday Season!
ReplyDeleteAww, thank you for those sweet comments! I've actually had a few tiles for several months now but like you, couldn't think what to do with them ;) Wait until you see the trees I made, sharing next week! xx
DeleteSo cute!!! You said Jumbo, but it was hard to tell in the picture how big they really were. I’m glad I watched the video.
ReplyDeleteHow have I never spotted tin tile in the dollar store before?! I need to look because these tin gingerbread men are darling, and so much easier than adding all the detail! So adorable!
ReplyDeleteThanks Donna, they're actually plastic but they look like the real deal! I've had a hard time finding any until recently.
DeleteLove this idea! Thank you for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteHow cute and creative! I have a small tree that is looking very plain. Maybe it needs some of these little gingerbread men to liven it up! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michelle, sounds like the perfect project for your tree!
