A vintage inspired Christmas tree

When I was planning my ornaments and decor for this year's Christmas tree, I was drawn to sage green, blush pink and gold. Normally my tree is colorful and red plays a primary role. I was torn because our home is so open, I was worried about colors clashing and not being cohesive. In the end, I decided that Christmas magic is about embracing whatever makes you happy! To make it a little easier on the eye, I divided my open plan home into zones. This really helped me to concentrate on individual areas and keeping the Christmas decor cohesive within each zone. You'll understand more as we go along.

The antique chair that I recently had recovered in a vintage white chenille bedspread and ticking fabric helped inspire my main Christmas tree. I wanted it to be soft and dreamy. This gorgeous tree is the 7.5" King of Christmas Queen Slim Flock. It honestly almost decorated itself! The sage green chiffon silk ribbon and copper ornaments pair well with several handcrafted ornaments including the blush painted balls, mushroom ornaments, painted pinecones and several glittery ornaments in all shapes and sizes.

I no sooner had my tree up and decorated, than I found the perfect throw and matching wrapping paper! Thank you Marshalls!

A tiny vintage wicker footstool is a perfect place to display some pretty wrapped gifts.

The vintage white dresser is always a favorite spot to decorate, and I kept it cohesive with the tree. Vintage white ironstone, creamy white handmade trees and a few touches of pink and green.

Layered shutters add interest and texture to the vintage charm, and I just love the quirky Santa on a unicycle print that I added to an inexpensive frame. That sweet stocking garland was a dollar store DIY, and I'll be sharing it soon!

On the other side of the fireplace is a set of built in shelves. I decided to incorporate the majority of my gingerbread items within these shelves, and I love the results! A collection of like items always looks best when grouped together.

Last year I made several gingerbread crafts, look for the links below. I also added the wood houses that were painted with gingerbread scenes, and a mix of colorful vintage and new ornaments. Small ornaments piled in a glass cloche adds a magical touch, along with the sweetest miniature silver tinsel trees with wood bobbin bases.

A dish rack filled with red transferware dishes, scored at the thrift store years ago, nestles in with greenery, dollar store gingerbread houses and the cutest little primitive painted gingerbread men.

A thrifted wood shelf added more decorating space for my gingerbread goodies and mittens made from felt. A creamy white tree was added to an empty coffee canister that I wrapped in red gift wrap and hung with vintage inspired Shiny Brites.

I've added strands of twinkle lights throughout these shelves, and inside the houses, and it is so magical when they all blink on in the evening!

The white console in our kitchen is a favorite spot to decorate for the seasons. To the left of it I normally have my black steel mug rack hanging on the wall. This year, I needed a little more decorating real estate, so I brought over a small dresser, vintage wood box and painted cubbies - stacked up they are perfect for displaying my collected Santa mugs.

It doesn't get merrier than a collection of Santa mugs!

Red and green ornaments, and a few true vintage pieces tucked into the mix, give the feeling of Christmas magic and all the good things that make us nostalgic for this time of the year.

I keep my eyes out all year long for pieces, vintage or not, that I can incorporate into my holiday decor. I would love it if all my Santa mugs were true antiques, but someday they will be 😉

The thrifted stool I found and painted this summer, is home to a basket of pinecones and red berries.

I kept the table simply decorated to not overwhelm the eye...I definitely have the gift of "more is better" when it comes to Christmas decorating! It's just so hard to leave cute things in bins when you only see them once a year ❤
