How to make vintage inspired medallion ornaments
These DIY ornaments are very easy to make, and use minimal supplies. If you

this short Instagram reel.
I love the look of these medallion ornaments, created by simply folding paper
and gluing the edges together. A little chunky glass glitter along the edges
really adds to the vintage charm!

Supplies needed:
- vintage sheet music or printable*
- scissors
- paper cutter
- hot glue
- printable circle medallions (I used these)
- glitter glue
- chunky gold glass glitter
- paper plates
*if you are printing sheet music, print onto regular copy paper, not
cardstock
Step 1: Cut sheet music down to size
I folded my roughly 8.5"x11" sheet of sheet music in half lengthwise and cut
using my paper trimmer. Then I fold each piece in half and cut so I ended up
with 4 pieces/sheet of music paper. I did end up trimming about 1" at the top
where there were no music notes.
Step 2: Accordion fold paper
Next, you will accordion fold each piece of paper and then glue them together
to create a medallion shape. If this is confusing for you, please watch
THIS short video!
Step 3: Add center design
If you want to add a center design, simply hot glue a round design to the
center of the medallion. The ones I used are free from The Graphics Fairy, and
you'll find the link for these exact ones in the supplies list.
Step 4: Glitter edges
I love this chunky glass glitter that I found at Michaels, it has great sparkle, and adds a vintage touch to these ornaments. The easiest way I found to apply it is a little tedious. I used regular Elmer's Glue and squeezed a line of glue along the outside edge of the medallion, then dipped the edges in the glitter glue. It was helpful to pour the glitter onto a paper plate, and roll the glued medallion in the glitter. This chunky glass glitter really gets noticed! Any unused glitter is easy to pour back into the bottle.Step 5: Glitter design
I chose to use glitter glue around the edge of the design on the center of
the medallion but you could use the chunky glitter as well. I initially
purchased a gold puffy paint (see in supplies image) but ended up returning
it because it was dull. The Stickles glitter glue is my favorite, it has
such great sparkle, but it's hard to find just the gold. I purchased the
pack of three (gold, silver and diamond) from Amazon and it's very
affordable and goes a long way! I know I'll use the other colors as well,
they're such great sparkly metallics!
I set the glittered ornaments aside to dry overnight, and the next day hot
glued a small piece of ribbon between two folds at the back as a hanger. I
absolutely love how these glittered medallion ornaments turned out, they are
oozing with vintage charm, don't you think?
I'm excited to show you how they look on my Christmas tree! Stay tuned...
Love the glass glitter! I've never heard of it, surely I've seen it before, but didn't know its name. These are very pretty!
