Handmade Vintage Christmas
Mixing vintage and new, handmade and store-bought makes for a magical Christmas home tour! Come on in and see how I decorated my holiday home.
Friends, welcome to Part 2 of my Magical Vintage Christmas home tour! I'm sharing my decorated bedroom and dining room as part of the 2024 Christmas Home Tour event hosted by my friend Cindy of County Road 407. There is a wonderful group of 17 talented bloggers sharing their homes. You'll be directed to each home at the end of my tour.
If you hopped over here from Cindy at County Road 407, welcome! I know you were inspired by her cozy and woodsy living and dining rooms!
I'm Cindy too! I love vintage and nostalgic Christmas decor, and when I can't find it (or afford the real deal), I love to DIY it. If you missed part 1 of my holiday home tour, you can catch up here. I shared my main tree in blush and sage, gingerbread shelves and Santa themed coffee bar. Throughout my tour, I'll share links to many of my DIY projects throughout my home. Let's go!

Creating a Magical Handmade Vintage Christmas
A few years ago I started decorating our bedroom for Christmas and have done it ever since! Having a tree in our room, with the twinkling lights, just adds a special magical feeling to our home. I love to go to bed early and read with the cozy glow of the Christmas tree!A Christmas bedroom tree
I used my King of Christmas 7' noble fir tree (
see how I decorated it with Shiny Brites last year) and elevated it on a crate so you could see more of the tree when you walk
into our room. It's a bit of a tight squeeze in this corner, but that just
means more snuggling 😊
Rather than change all the bedding to Christmas colors, I kept out the blue
and added pops of red, like a vintage cross stitch quilt I found a couple
years ago. You can see how I used it in our
red and white cottage Christmas guest room a couple years ago.
Coziness is the name of the game for Christmas, and layering both bedding,
pillows and the holiday decor adds that feeling like you never want to leave!
The
blue-gray waffle weave ruffled blanket and shams
is my favorite...so cozy...and when you add a little red, it feels so
nostalgic! I own it in both beige and blue because I love it soo much! You can

(hint: it would make a wonderful Christmas gift!)
The tree is decorated lightly with a mix of
these new white and gold shatterproof ornaments
as well as handmade ones.
I hung the white crocheted snowflakes that my mom made for me before she
passed. I couldn't find them last year and was worried I'd lost them. It feels
like having a little piece of my mom with me during the holidays, which she
loved so much!
The onion shape mercury glass ornaments were a DIY this year. Watch for a
tutorial coming soon to
my Instagram feed! The
vintage sheet music medallion ornaments
were an easy way to add that vintage vibe to my tree, and the banners are
simply printed and tea stained copy paper cut into ribbons.
Christmas in the dining room
Our dining room is home to two hutches. They're favorite spots to add
Christmas cheer. Every year I wonder how I'll change it up from previous
years, but I always manage to do something different!
This year I was inspired to decorate with creamy whites in my primitive pine
hutch, with just a few pops of red. The
velvet ribbon and pearl ornaments hung from the top resemble snowflakes, and that beautiful
French Country carved wood piece adds a touch of elegance to the primitive pine cabinet.
Inexpensive bottle brush trees in ivory mix with my vintage ironstone dishes.
I have fairy lights on a timer and love the twinkle in the evenings! My simple
centerpiece is layered ironstone, a wreath, chunky candle and more red
ornaments.
Across the room, my vintage black hutch continues the neutral theme, with pops
of red.
I hung wreaths on the outside of the hutch doors with fishing line. If you
look at the hutch top, you'll see a large wicker basket filled with pinecones
and greens, as well as the
sugar mold candle centerpiece
I put together a few weeks ago. The candles are on a timer and create a cozy
warmth in this room.
Inside the hutch, I kept it neutral with dollar store bottle brush trees I
revamped, creamy white ironstone, gold ornaments and my
Willow Tree nativity.
The little crackled gift box topped with mini bottle brush trees was a simple
DIY I shared on Instagram, you can
check out the short video tutorial here.
I've already shared details of my
vintage Santa Christmas kitchen nook, but here are a couple more pictures because I've been adding and moving
items around. My
recycled ornaments with blue floral napkins
always make an appearance. This is such a great way to give old ornaments a
fresh new look rather than buying new!
I switched out the tablecloth and centerpiece with my
red ticking stripe fabric trees and the
drop cloth snowflakes
I made using a cookie cutter template.
The
chunky tattered ticking candy canes
are one of my most popular Christmas DIYs. I love bringing them out every year
and there's just something about ticking that adds that vintage cottage charm
I love.
I have more pictures I could share, but I think that's enough LOL! I hope you
check out all my
Christmas DIYs and Decor Ideas. I love inspiring you and showing you how to create beauty in your home
for less!
