Valentines DIY Bottle Brush Trees
Bottle brush trees are elevated to Valentines Day decor status with ornaments, bobbles and more! Read on for the easy tutorial.
Have you fallen in love with bottle brush trees like I have? This Christmas I
wanted to build my collection of white trees, and hunted them down from dollar
stores and
Amazon to
get the best prices!
When I found a set of pink bottle brush trees, I decided to turn them into
charming vintage style decorations using ornaments and vintage jello molds
that I found at the thrift store.
How to make vintage style Valentines trees

Here's what I used.
Supplies:
- bottle brush trees ( dark pink/red and light pink)
- vintage style plastic ornaments
- small jello molds (you can find vintage ones HERE and HERE. HERE are some new ones that look vintage)
- ribbon
- hearts, tiny hearts, buttons, mini pom poms, heart shaped brads, pearl beads, gold balls cut from a garland, etc
- hot glue
- optional: wire snips
The sky is really the limit here, use your creativity and what you find in
your stash to decorate these Valentines trees in your style!
While you may not have small aluminum jello molds, get creative and try
something else! Small eggs cups work as you'll see further on, as do candle
holders flipped upside down.
Step #1 - Trim trees
The first step is to remove the base from the trees. I recommend snipping the
wire about 1/4" below the base of the tree.
Step #2 - trim ornament
Next, do a dry fit on the ornament you're using. Remove the cap from the
ornament and set the tree inside. You can even trim off the lip of the
ornament where the cap sits to make the tree fit better.
Step #3 - glue ornament
Use a generous amount of hot glue to secure the ornament to the base you're
using. You have just a few seconds to make sure it's straight.
Step #4 - secure tree
Hot glue the bottle brush tree to the ornament. In order for the tree to be
secure, you'll need a fair amount of glue.
Step #5 - decorate tree
Hot glue all the bobbles, beads and decorations you have to give your tree
vintage Valentines flair! I also chose to tie a short piece of ribbon around
the base of the tree to hide the hot glue blobs!
This is the only time of year when pink and red look good together, so make the most of it!
I tried to make a variety of Valentines trees and styles, some are more plain
and others are loaded with decorations!
This soft pink tree is my favorite! It works really well with my
winter forest of white trees!
