Sunny Yellow Cottage Spring Kitchen
Need a lift? Decorate with yellow! A sunny yellow kitchen feels right at home for Spring.
I've never been yellow's biggest cheerleader, but this year I found myself
drawn to yellow. Not overly bright, in-your-face yellow - oh no. I'm
talking buttery soft, mellow golden yellows.
Adding these golden tones to our kitchen made it come alive, but in a very
mellow way. It feels energized and soothing at the same time. Welcoming and
warm. I'm going to break down some ideas for bringing the color yellow into
your spaces, and a few simple and inexpensive DIYs to keep it budget friendly
for Spring.

Inspiration
Most room refreshes start with an inspiration piece and for me, I fell in love
with
this floral fabric. It's creamy yellow and soft pink roses put me in mind of a simpler time.
You know my love for vintage, and I knew I had to find a way to use this
fabric in my home.
Spring DIYs
I came up with the following simple projects for my Spring kitchen using the
yellow fabric.
A fabric strip garland
How to do it:
Made by simply knotting fabric strips around a length of jute cord, a fabric
strip garland adds soft vintage charm and is an easy project on the wallet. I
hung it across our chippy white antique window, but it could as easily be hung
across a mantel, bookshelves, even across a mirror.
Tip - use 3-4 different fabrics to keep it interesting; just buy 1/4 yard
of each fabric
How to do it:
I used
mod podge
as the glue to secure the fabrics to the wood shelf sitter. The white chenille
acts as the "eggshell" and I think looks so cute! You can find similar wood
cutouts on
Amazon.
Other ways to add yellow to your home decor
I painted some
inexpensive craft eggs with
this buttery yellow paint
and added speckles using the instructions that you can find
in this post.
This
ruffled yellow striped table runner
from Target adds a swath of mellow yellow across the table. The
matching napkins were used on my coffee bar.
These pretty embroidered napkins
were tied into bows.
I added a
sweet rustic goose
with a golden bow...did you notice her golden egg?
I purchased some inexpensive
yellow flowers
from Hobby Lobby. Their bright color is sweet in a creamy white pitcher.
Balancing the yellow with whites keeps it looking bright and fresh.
I added my cutting boards to my metal hanging mug rack. It reminds me a little
like art on easels and is a fun way to show off a cutting board collection.
Small pops of pink are added in the form of dried roses, painted eggs and
those
vintage pink cabbage roses jar lids
I made.
