Blue and white is a favorite color combo to decorate with around here! I consider it a neutral because it works for all the seasons, and looks good all year round.

Easter is a time for friends and family to come together. In our home, we celebrate Jesus' victory over the grave, His resurrection and the fact that He's alive in us! Gathering as a family is a special time and why not make your table special too!

Use one or all of these tips I'm sharing below to decorate a soft and dreamy cottagecore table that will wow your guests and highlight a memorable meal.

Tip #1: Dreamy layers

Start by covering your table in something dreamy. I used a crocheted throw over my table, topped with a ruffled napkin. You might not have similar pieces, but here are some other ideas for unique table coverings that will give your table cottage charm:
  • try laying a lace curtain over your table
  • consider a smaller, lightweight quilt as a table covering
  • overlapping doilies will add vintage cottage charm to your table
  • you can use book pages or sheet music for a unique table topper

What if you're worried about messy eaters?

Simply have some placemats handy that you can encourage younger kids to use! This will protect your decorative table coverings.

For reference, I'm using a rectangular crocheted throw similar to THIS ONE on a round table, which means it drapes all the way to the floor on two sides. I love this dreamy cottage look! This neutral ruffled tablecloth would also work.

Tip #2: Mismatched dishes

I've been collecting blue and white dishes for years, and none of them match. Mismatched dishes add a charming cottage vibe to your decorated table. I topped the dinner plates with egg shaped salad plates that I found recently.

If you don't have blue and white floral dishes, here are some alternatives to getting the same look:

Tip #3: Decorated eggs

We need to talk about these sweet eggs! They're simply inexpensive craft eggs that I decoupaged with blue and white floral bunny paper napkins (similar to these). They really tie in the look on my Easter table and were very simple to make. If you need step by step instructions, please see how I made my  Peter Rabbit decoupaged eggs.

Fun idea: decoupaging eggs with your kids or grandkids is a fun project to do together! You just need eggs, napkins, mod podge (or school glue) and foam brushes.

Tip #4: Bunnies with ribbon

We all have a few bunnies, so why not create a centerpiece with them. Tie a coordinating ribbon around their necks to add some color. I used a round wicker tray (similar to this) as my base. The whole centerpiece is easy to pick up and move when we need more room on the table. Flowers and white painted pots soften the look and contribute to the dreamy cottage feel.

Bonus tip: see that taper candle in the background? I made it using paper napkins! Want to make your own custom candles? Read this post How to Make Custom Candles with Napkins. This tutorial will walk you through the easy steps.

Tip #5: Contrasting color

If you've been following along, you've already seen me share my buttery yellow Spring kitchen details. I left some of the yellow pieces out because the additional color adds some energy to the blue and white. Soft chicks in buttery yellows look so cute on an Easter tree, which is a flowering bush. You can see a short video showing how I put it together and kept it standing upright HERE.

This yellow striped runner with ruffles (and matching napkins) was one of my favorite purchases of the season! Thank you Target!

I added some blue and white floral carrots that I made (see this tutorial for details).

Fun tip: don't be afraid to raid your kid's stuffies for bunnies and chicks! I saved this little chick from when my kids were little, and just added a new bow around its neck. It adds so much charm when tucked into a vintage blue and white teacup!

I hope you loved these blue and white Easter table decorating ideas and your mind is spinning with ideas for your own home!
