How to Make Mini Paper Crowns
A step by step tutorial for easy miniature paper crowns for your figurines using inexpensive supplies. Glitter and pearls add a little glam.
A few days ago I shared a
5-minute figurine makeover
for the concrete bird statues that I have. Many of you commented that you had
the same bird statues and planned to follow my tips to give them a fresh new
look.
Today we're taking it a step further and making some darling little paper
crowns to add to the birds. I'll walk you through the tutorial, step by step,
including adding a little glam with some fine glitter and pearls. Are you
ready? Let's go!

How to make easy mini glittered crowns
I'll be honest, it took me a hot minute to figure out how to get the right
shape for these paper crowns. But then I stumbled upon a trick that saved the
day! Keep reading for all the deets.
Supplies for crowns
- mini disposable condiment cups
- cardstock (I used vintage style sheet music card stock)
- scissors
- pencil
- precision knife ( Xacto)
- extra fine glitter (I didn't use the one pictured, I used THIS)
- small pearl stickers (the roll I used isn't available, but any tiny pearls with a flat back should work)
Insider tip: I keep the little condiment cups in my craft cabinet for when I use acrylic paints. These were the "secret ingredient" to figuring out how to cut the crowns out of paper.
I wanted the crowns to be tapered (narrower) at the bottom as you can see from
the completed crowns. Math is not my friend, lol, so the condiment cups acted
like a paper pattern to help me figure out the angle and shape I needed to cut
the pretty cardstock.
Steps to cut the paper into a miniature crown shape
- score the bottom of the condiment cup with the precision knife, and then cut out the bottom
- snip the cup and open it up into a strip
- trace this shape onto the patterned card stock you are using, and cut out
- shape the strip into a crown and do a dry fit on your figurine (narrow side down)
- glue the card stock crown and cut off excess paper
- cut triangle shaped snips around the top of the crown
- brush a little white glue onto the card stock and sprinkle with glitter
- set aside to dry
- glue pearls to tips of crown points
Now your crowns are ready to add to your figurine. I found I had to hot glue
the crowns to my birds, and there's still a little gap around the sides. I'm
okay with that.
If you want a better fit, press the glued edges of the crown to the birds
head at the sides until the hot glue sets.
These little glittered crowns were surprisingly easy to make (once I figured
out the mechanics of it lol), and I like the little bit of bling they add to
my bird figurines.
